My faves from the Golden Globes

My top 5 (in order):

January Jones in Versace

I usually don’t like dresses that show tons of skin, but this was such a different look: vavavoom red, fringe, cutouts, the red lip, and awesome Veronica Lake hair.  I love the fashion risk she took.

Angelina Jolie in Versace

She wore color!!! Sequins, shoulder pads, and an open back!  She’s the epitome of someone who doesn’t have to try to exude sexiness and confidence.  I was watching her during the broadcast and how she was looking at Brad; they are such a cute couple (even if I consider myself on Team Aniston lol)!

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein

Taking a step back from the drama, I’m loving the minimalist look that’s going to be so hot for Spring.  I love pink, the short sleeves, and open back on this dress as well.  She’s also wearing this cute, bow Van Cleef ring.  And wow, how much does Emma Stone look like Lindsay Lohan with blonde hair?

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive

Rachel Zoe, you’ve done it again.  Anne looked amazing.  Her hair grew back so fast- it looks so healthy, with lots of shine and volume.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

I loved this gown, but I thought it was maybe it was a bit too much for someone who wasn’t nominated, but I guess since she’s technically a princess, she can get away with it lol.  Underneath her gown, Olivia was wearing these crazy, gorgeous, gold Loubitons.  Jealous!

*Trends from the evening*

GREEN: as seen on Mila Kunis, Elisabeth Moss, Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta Jones

NUDE PINKS: on Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman- that Viktor & Rolf dress was so cute on her!, Kaley Cuoco, Claire Danes- okay, she wasn’t wearing a nudish pink, but I wanted to shoutout how great she looked, too!

OPEN BACKS

*Other things I wanted to mention*

I was majorly disappointed by what Michelle Williams wore.  I was so confused by her choice.  What was up with those daisies on her dress?  Nevertheless, her face was flawless.

Halle Berry looked so hott in that black dress; she even elicited some yelps from the crowd when she came out to present.

Kelly Osbourne looked really pretty in Zac Posen.  Her hair was amazing, too.  I loved the illusion that was made by her dress.

Newcomer and nominee, Jennifer Lawrence, looked edgy and sophisticated in Louis Vuitton.

Mandy Moore also looked really pretty in her blue Monique Lhuillier gown.  The color looked amazing against her chestnut brown hair.

And Vera Wang went outside her comfort zone and designed this corset, red, bow dress for Sofia Vegara which hugged her figure in all the right places.  A lot of the times, Sofia’s dresses are not properly fitted to accommodate her curvy figure, so I was really happy to see her in something good.

And I’m just posting the following for me. Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal were so sexy and dapper on the red carpet.  Yum!  Aren’t they both currently single?! LOL

And yayeee, so happy for Social Network!  Go watch it if you haven’t already.  The directing, acting, music, and script are all there.  I loved that it’s a movie catered to young people because of the Facebook topic, but it also relates to everyone because of the real theme behind the movie (about how we all communicate with one another).  The script is also very fast and witty- classic Aaron Sorkin; he created the West Wing and wrote The American President (btw, how awesome was it seeing Michael Douglas starting to look like himself again?).

I’m usually Team Ashley, but…

I’m definitely Team Mary-Kate here.  She looks absolutely amazing!  She’s the more bohemian of the two, but here she mixes bohemian glam (notice the bag she’s carrying) with sophistication.  I love a mini-dress with high shoes!  Work it!

How I long for you Spring

It’s been so cold here in So-Cal!  Brrr!  Evidence of this: it snowed in Santa Clarita last Sunday!  The last time it snowed there was over 20 years ago!  I wish I could do it Obama-style and head over to Hawaii pronto!

Dear ASOS, I love you and want to buy everything you got for Spring…

Nudes and a dash of pink with that oh-so-sweet-vintagey bag

That hat is synchronized-swimming-eqsue, but that baby blue skirt is adorable with socks and oxfords

Boy meets girl: so cool with thise girly overalls/romper, letterman jacket, and red sunglasses

Oh-so-high platforms and color- so 70s

I would kill for those heels

I just love how the model’s posing in this pic… it’s so ironic… kinda Royal Tenebaums-esque.  I wanted to post this other pic of her where you can see her with those amazing leopard, open-toed platforms, but it’s coming out pixelated =(  Tres chic!  This pic makes me want to jet set to Paris.  I think this LC trench coat from Kohl’s would look amazeballs with this outfit.  You’d surely make the Satoralist  I love the candy, robin-egg color.

Gorgeousness of the Day

Carey Mulligan looks so fresh and sophisticated in this outfit.  Have I mentioned how much I heart dresses with pockets?  I love the pop of color on her shoes.  And I love how she’s growing out her pixie cut, too.

Gorgeousness of the Day

Emma Watson once again.  Seriously perfect LBD… mini, feathers, and lace.  Can’t wait to see the rest of her outfits for the promo tour!

Gorgeousness of the Day

The hair, the make-up, the dress, the jewelry= perfection

Now only if Daniel and Rupert had dressed up, too… not digging the mopheads and scruff.  Excited for Deathly Hallows though!  I will probably end up waiting to see it though, not opening day like I’ve done in the past.

And has anyone picked up the new issue (December) of Lucky Magazine with Diane Kruger on the cover?  I love her.  She’s so one of my style icons and she’s dating Pacey (Joshua Jackson)!  And I’m digging some of the new layouts by the new editor and chief.  Happy 10 Year Anniversary to Lucky Magazine!!!

‘Cause I’m walking down this road alone
And I figured all I’m thinking ‘bout is you
Is you my love

And my head is in a cloud of rain
And the world it seems so far away
And I’m just waiting fall in droplets
To droplets

Pretty Things

Alexa Chung for Madewell- I love her!!

jessica_alba_dior_haute_couture.jpg

Jessica Alba in Dior—- gahh white Mary Janes, thin, braided, gold belt, gold hoops, and a floaty, frothy, floral strapless Dior dress!!

0707jessica-alba-chanel-couture_fa.jpg

Jessica Alba in Chanel knocked it out of the park again (or her stylist did)!!  I’m not a big fashion fan of hers, but this is seriously one of my fav looks in a long time.  Those bad-ass Louboutin ankle boots are so nicely juxtaposed with this 50/60s feeling dress.  And I love white, red, and black together.  So chic!  And her hair swept to the one side—- amazing!

The daughter of Jane Birkin (is she the one who inspired the Birkin bag?)—- her Chanel tweed jacket is amazeballs!! I’m hoping for a faux one in the Fall!  Forever 21 gods, please make some again!

Street style I’m looking forward to copying because I have most of these items in my closet!  Check- oxfords, dotted tights, black cardi, black sunnies, an armload of gold bracelets!  Just need to check on the ruffled blouse and brown bag!

She’s definitely not a slumdog

Frieda Pinto in Oscar de la Renta.  She looked so gorgeous in this dress.  Love the color of the dress, that she had red nails, and the simple accessories she wore- all black and gold.  She had her cute main squeeze, Dev Patel on her arm, too.  How cute is it that they got together after the movie?
